Lyrics:

I was looking at some photographs from about 10 years back
They leapt out at me, played like a movie and made me laugh

I remember when I was a kid
And I didn’t think I just did

As we grow up, little pieces of us die
There’s nothing wrong with getting wise
But don’t let go of that part of you
That just wants to feel alive
Hold onto that inner child for life

Now I have a job and I have bills and I think months away
But I remember when I knew what bored felt like
Who ever knew that there was beauty in wasting the day?

I didn’t know a lot but I felt it all
And I didn’t have a leg to stand on, but I felt so tall

As we grow up, little pieces of us die
There’s nothing wrong with getting wise
But don’t let go of that part of you
That just wants to feel alive
Hold onto that inner child for life

Although we may be grown up
Some things you never grow out of
Like listening to your soul
Or letting that little voice shout out

So what does your inner child say?
Is it proud of you today?

Just don’t let go of that part of you
It just wants you to feel alive
Hold onto that inner child for life
