Life is Not Linear

Life is not linear.

The further I get into life, the more I realize that it isn’t and never will be like an arrow shooting straight up. The growth we make or strive to is not and cannot be perpetually progressing. There are always inevitable pitfalls and relapses.

In a graph, you would see the highs and the lows; the plummets and the pivots.

Life is not constant.

Our circumstances are always changing. What worked for us yesterday, might not work for us today. We are living, breathing and growing things. Our ebbs and flows require adjustments.

Life is not static.

Whether you’re moving or not, life is. It doesn’t give out breaks or extra time. You cannot change what has already been. There is no room for perfection.

And that’s its beauty.

To struggle and feel pain and have compassion and empathy.

To know what it’s like at the bottom to appreciate the view at the top.

To care for yourself like you would a flower, feeding it light and love.

And to know that you’ll find yourself, not in the highs or the lows, but in the averages of all your experiences.
